The Black Forests Reef top begins at around 5 to 8 meters. The site then drops into a steep slope to depths beyond recreational limits. There is an abundance of coral heads in the shallow and a forest of black corals at around 35 to 45 meters. This site is most interesting at 15 meters but not as interesting below 40 meters.
The Black Forest is the best dive site in the Bohol Triangle. You can also drift dive at this dive site.
The Black Forest has a diversity of all kinds of anthias, rock cod groupers, scorpionfishes, squirrel fishes, parrotfishes, wrasse, damselfish, and anemonefishes. Watch out for triggerfishes in the months of May, June, and July as this is when they are most aggressive.
